Think Before You Drink – Empowering Youth Through Education and Support
At the Spink County Coalition and SADD Chapter, we are dedicated to reducing underage drinking and its harmful consequences through proactive prevention efforts. Alcohol misuse remains one of the most significant public health concerns facing teens today. From impaired driving to risky decision-making, the effects of alcohol can have life-altering consequences—especially for young people.
Our Alcohol Awareness & Prevention program engages students, parents, and the broader community through:
-
Interactive school presentations and assemblies that address the physical, emotional, and legal consequences of underage drinking.
-
Peer-led campaigns and student involvement that make prevention messages more relatable and impactful.
-
Community partnerships with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and educators to reinforce consistent messaging about the dangers of underage alcohol use.
-
Parent and caregiver education to encourage open communication, set clear expectations, and provide tools for talking to teens about alcohol.
-
Annual awareness events, such as Red Ribbon Week and Alcohol Awareness Month, that promote visibility and engage youth in prevention activities.
We believe prevention is most effective when it starts early and involves the entire community. Our approach emphasizes positive choices, open dialogue, and empowering teens to take control of their futures. Whether it's resisting peer pressure, understanding the long-term effects of alcohol, or choosing to be a designated driver, our youth deserve the tools and support to make safe and healthy decisions.
Together, we can build a culture where every young person knows: You don’t have to drink to belong.
